JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) Throughout the month of April, yorkathletics.com will highlight those who have given us everything they had on their respective playing fields with senior features for each team's 2020-21 senior class.  With the cancellation of sports for the 2020-21 academic year, York athletics will celebrate and recognize our seniors online and on social media with our #YorkSeniorDay.  Today, head coach Jose "Tito" Castillo celebrates senior members Diamond Jackson and Damata Usman of the women's soccer team for their dedication to York athletics.  The duo have combined to play in 86 matches for the Cardinals from 2017-19.
 
Hailing from Harlem, Jackson is a graduate of Ellenville High School.  As a team captain wearing the No. 11 jersey, Jackson helped York to a trio of wins as an anchor to the defensive unit at the defender and midfielder positions in 2019.  Jackson played in 42 of York's 47 games from 2017-19, and in 39-career starts, Jackson totaled four points on one goal and a pair assists while contributing to five shutouts.  She scored the game-winning goal and also tallied an assist in the final game of her career during a convincing 10-1 win in the 2019 season finale at Medgar Evers College.  Set to graduate with a degree in movement science, Jackson was also a member of the basketball (2016-18, 19-20) and track & field (2018) programs at York. 
 
After being raised in Kumasi, Ghana, Usman graduated from the High School for Health Careers and Sciences.  Usman played in 44 of York's 47 matches during her time as a Cardinal (2017-19).  As a staple in the Cardinal midfield sporting the No. 16 jersey, Usman made 39-career starts and helped York to five shutouts.  Usman produced her first-career point during a 12-0 CUNYAC senior day win versus Medgar Evers (Oct. 16, 2019).  In 2017-18, Usman was a member of the track & field team.  Usman will be graduating with a degree in health science.
