2021-22 Visiting Team Information and Visitor Policy

York College Athletics Vaccination and Testing Policies
All York College Student Athletes participating in pre, regular or post season tournament intercollegiate athletic competition are required to be full vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, with a CDC-authorized COVID-19 vaccine in accordance with CDC guidelines, prior to being permitted to participate in any such collegiate athletic activity. A very limited amount of medical or religious exemption waivers will be granted to those who qualify. Student-athletes who are granted a medical or religious exemption waiver, will be required to submit to weekly PCR testing in order to practice and compete.

Masking
In compliance with CUNY and York College mandates, all visitors on campus must wear a mask at all times, except for when actively participating in athletic events. For outdoor athletic events, masks are optional as long as social distancing can be maintained.

Visitor Policy
CUNY’s visitor access policy (https://www.cuny.edu/coronavirus/visitor-policy) defines a visitor as “someone who is not a CUNY student, faculty or staff member.

Every visitor to a CUNY campus, whether accessing indoor or outdoor spaces, must provide proof to CUNY that they:
  1. Are fully vaccinated, or
  2. Have had a negative COVID-19 molecular (PCR) test performed by an accredited lab no more than 7 days prior to the visit.
    • Fully vaccinated” means:
      • Two weeks after a second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines; or
      • Two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine

Spectator Policy

  2. Guests from outside the campus community may be permitted with prior approval, and with compliance with CUNY Visitor Policy.
  3. Spectator Capacity (25% capacity of event location – gymnasium, up to 150pp).

All on campus events will have locker room access inside Health & Physical Education Complex. Depending on the facility, offsite events may not have locker room access.  Visiting teams should come ready to participate.

Sports Medicine
  • All requests for treatment by the visiting teams athletic trainer must be made in advance to Head Athletic Trainer Amy O’Connor via email (aoconnor2@york.cuny.edu).
  • There is a 3-person limit in the athletic training room at all times and masks must be worn whilst being treated.
  • Visiting teams will be required to bring their own water bottles, towels and medical kit bag.
  • Single use cups can be provided in the event that a team does not bring their water bottles.
Positive COVID-19 Cases
The NCAA Sport Science Institute (SSI) has found that there is little to no transmission of COVID-19 during exertional sports activity. However, if a student-athlete on either side should show symptoms and/or test positive prior or during competition, a decision will be made by the Campus COVID Liaison, Director of Athletics and Head Athletic Trainer about whether or not to continue the competition. If the student-athlete reveals symptoms and/or tests positive post competition, including up to two days after, the visiting teams athletic training staff and administration will be notified.
