JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) Due to ADA compliant upgrades and ongoing construction to the Health & Physical Education Complex (HPEC) restrooms and locker rooms, York College announced that it will cancel the 2024-25 men's and women's swimming & diving season.

"The decision to forgo the 2024-25 swimming & diving campaign was ultimately driven by health and safety concerns that directly impact the student-athlete experience. We look forward to restoring and expanding our aquatics programming once the renovations & improvements have been completed, in order to bring back our men's & women's swimming teams stronger than ever next Fall." said Director of Athletics Carl Christian.

This project will fully modernize plumbing fixtures, floor finishes, walls, ceilings, and lighting.  As part of Phase I of this project, shower stalls have been installed in restrooms located on the main floor, which will be available for use during this phase, as well as lockers in the main entry lobby.  Trailers outfitted with restrooms will be temporarily located behind the HPEC for use while existing restrooms and locker rooms at the lower level are taken offline for construction. The newly renovated spaces will be available to all for use and the temporary trailers will be removed as work in Phase I is anticipated to be completed by the end of the calendar year.  Phase II will then see the renovation of restrooms located in the main lobby of the HPEC, with the anticipated completion date in April 2025.

In the absence of a season in 2024-25, second-year head coach Gary Walunas will continue to focus on recruiting and retaining his student-athletes for the 2025-26 campaign and beyond.
