NEWBURGH, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's and women's swimming opened their 2025-26 slate Sunday at the Mount Saint Mary College Invite inside Kaplan Pool.  The Cardinals fielded six newcomers making their debuts in York's first competition since the 2023–24 campaign. 

Wood-by Paulemont registered York's top men's finish of the day, placing fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:36.21 to earn 11 points. Paulemont also led York in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing 14th in 31.57, while Munab Hasnain (37.31, 16th), Tyrone Morris (59.51, 17th) and Brandon Smith (1:05.55, 18th) also made their debuts in the event. Darian Davis led the squad with 17 points, specializing in the breaststroke events by scoring 10 points with a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (4:23.17) and adding seven more with a seventh-place effort in the 100-yard breaststroke (2:28.28). Hasnain added six points with an eighth-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly (42.77).  York totaled 34 points on the meet to finish fourth as Brooklyn College claimed victory with 594 points. 

On the women's side, Elizabeth Astudillo paced York with 16 points across two races.  She compiled 10 points with a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (2:25.15) and contributed six points in the 100-yard freestyle (1:33.39, 8th).  Jordanna Jervis made her debut with six points in the 50-yard freestyle (1:19.97, 8th).  The Cardinals finished in fourth with 22 points as Brooklyn totaled 423 points to complete the sweep.
