Stanley Sanchez was named a 2024 CUNYAC Men's Volleyball Preseason Player to Watch as league officials released Friday the eight-member squad.
Casting as an outside hitter and libero in 2023, Sanchez played in 16 matches and 48 sets in his first season for the program. On the court, Sanchez accumulated a season-high in points (6.5) and kills (4) at Lehman College (Mar. 9). Additionally, Sanchez set a single-season team high of 11 digs in a home affair versus Lehman (Mar. 30). Stats-wise, the Queens native paced the Cardinals in digs (72) and receiving percentage (.877), and finished second in assists (27), and third in kills (16) and points (20.5). For his efforts, Sanchez received the 2023 York College Men's Volleyball Most Outstanding Award.
Voted on by the league coaches, York was selected eighth in the CUNYAC Preseason Poll.

Baruch College and Brooklyn College both collected 46 votes and four first-place ballots, while the Cardinals received eight total points. York's 14-game conference slate begins at Baruch College on February 27.
The 2024 CUNYAC Championship will take place on April 9 (first-round), April 11 (semifinals), and April 12 (finals), with the league champion receiving an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.

Sanchez and the Cardinals open their campaign Thursday (Feb. 1) in a non-conference road encounter against the Pratt Institute Cannoneers (0-0) at 7 p.m. inside Pratt ARC.
