@yorkcardinals Men’s Volleyball battles Brooklyn

York College closes out its home slate Tuesday (Mar. 24) with a CUNYAC matchup against CCNY on Senior Day

JAMAICA, NY-- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball continued its three-match homestand Thursday, falling to the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (9-6, 3-4 CUNYAC) in a straight-set non-conference matchup, 25-12, 25-14, 25-16, inside York College Gymnasium.

First Set Breakdown 
  • Two kills by Alexis Ramirez kept York competitive early (3-2). 
  • Smackdowns from Lior Amromin, Aiden Melecio, and Aaron Siu got Brooklyn an 8-3 edge. 
  • The Bulldogs pushed the advantage to nine (13-4) after claiming five points on Siu's serve. 
  • The margin ranged from 9-11 for the next parts of the stanza before Brooklyn sealed a 25-12 result.
Second Set Breakdown 
  • Amromin's ace capped off a 7-1 start for the Bulldogs. 
  • Two aces and a kill by Siu made it a double-digit scoreline (16-6). 
  • Ramirez's ace trimmed the deficit to eight (16-8). That was the closest the Cardinals got the rest of the way, as Brooklyn steadily pulled away 25-14.
Third Set Breakdown 
  • Brooklyn seized early control with a 5-1 run, highlighted by back-to-back service aces from Gabriel Minchala to build a 9-3 advantage. 
  • York responded with four consecutive points, sparked by a kill from Bryan Godette and followed by a pair of kills from Ramirez to cut the deficit to 10-7. 
  • The Bulldogs answered with a decisive 9-4 run to regain control and ultimately sealed the match with three straight points.
Leading the Cardinals
  • Ramirez led the way for York with an all-around performance, tallying six kills, one service ace, and five digs. 
  • Brian Kim anchored the effort with a balanced showing, dishing out six assists to go along with six digs, while also adding a service ace and a block.
  • Godette contributed three kills while matching Ramirez's five digs. 
  • Keron Antoine added efficiency on the attack, recording two kills on four swings.
For Brooklyn
  • Matthew Kadatskiy delivered a dominant performance, recording a match-high 12 points behind seven kills on an impressive .778 hitting percentage, while adding three service aces and 1.5 blocks. 
  • Siu posted a match-best eight kills to lead the Bulldogs' attack.
  • Minchala chipped in six kills and three aces, while Amromin added four kills and three aces. 
  • Miguel Trejo orchestrated the offense with 23 assists, guiding Brooklyn's attack throughout the match.
Inside the Box Score
York recorded 12 kills on 62 total attacks, finishing with a -.048 hitting percentage, while Brooklyn posted an efficient .356 clip with 37 kills on 73 swings. The Bulldogs held the advantage across the board, outpacing the Cardinals in points (54-16), kills (37-12), aces (13-2), blocks (4-2), assists (36-10), and digs (28-22).
