www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball closed out the 2026 season Tuesday evening with a CUNYAC road matchup against the John Jay College Bloodhounds (14-11, 6-2 CUNYAC), falling in straight sets, 25-10, 25-15, 25-8, inside The Doghouse.
After advancing to the postseason for the first time since 2016 a season ago, York (2-15, 1-7 CUNYAC) missed out on competing in next week's CUNYAC Championship (Apr. 7, 9, 10) and will graduate
Bryan Godette (2026),
George Molina (2024–26), and
Shady Kalil (2026) as it looks to regroup and build toward a return to postseason play next season under fourth-year head coach
Anthony Reyes.
First Set Breakdown
- On the strength of six kills, John Jay started the contest up 9-2.
- A pair of smackdowns by Micah Rossman extended the edge to 11 (15-4).
- Brandon Roman's spike made it 21-6.
- York got three combined kills from Alexis Ramirez and Godette the rest of the way, but it did not matter, as the Bloodhounds took the stanza 25-10.
Second Set Breakdown
- Two Rossman aces guided a 4-0 beginning.
- The Cardinals claimed three of the next four points to trim the deficit to two (5-3).
- Separating themselves, John Jay responded with a 5-0 burst to lead 10-3.
- A further 7-3 spurt pushed the advantage to 17-6.
- Battling back, Molina's ace capped off a 6-3 run to close the margin to eight (20-12).
- York never got the difference below eight points, as the Bloodhounds closed out a 25-15 victory.
Third Set Breakdown
- Level at one, John Jay utilized a 6-1 stretch to go up 7-2.
- Godette's kill maintained the five-point margin (9-4).
- Four kills and an ace sparked a 7-0 scoring spree for the Bloodhounds to make the score 16-4.
- Never looking back, Nate Whyte's ace sealed the 25-8 result.
Leading the Cardinals
- Godette recorded team-highs in kills (7) and digs (6), and also added a solo block.
- Ramirez totaled five kills and five digs.
- Molina tallied a kill and an ace, and Keron Antoine contributed the squad's second solo block.
- Brian Kim had a solid two-way performance with 12 assists and four digs.
For John Jay
- Rossman generated a team-leading nine kills to go along with six digs and two aces.
- Sebastian Rodriguez (6), Nick Fuentes (6), and Steven Ajazi (5) combined for 17 kills. Ajazi also spiked home two solo blocks.
- Jimmy Thinlay (19) and Maxwell Law (13) orchestrated 32 assists.
- Logan Ramos scooped up a match-best nine digs.
Inside the Box Score
York produced 13 kills on 51 attempts for a .020 swing percentage, while John Jay banged home 44 kills and hit at a .486 rate. The Bloodhounds also had the upper hand in points (58-16), aces (9-1), assists (43-13), and digs (25-20), and both programs each tallied two solo blocks.
