www.YORKATHLETICS.com)Â York College men's and women's swimming competed Friday in the opening day of the CUNYAC Championships hosted by Lehman College inside The APEX.
Alex Winter paced York with a fifth-place finish in the men's 50-yard freestyle. Winter swam a 25.96 to record four points. He previously placed fifth at the 2020 CUNYAC Championships in a time of 23.35.
On the women's side,
Nayelly Rojas clocked in at 42.35 in the 50-yard freestyle to touch the wall 22nd. Rojas improved on her seed time (44.79) by 2.44. Â
"Nayelly hit a 50-yard freestyle PR, improving on her time by a total of 12 seconds in just three weeks. Alex finished just two seconds shy of his PR for the 50-yard freestyle. Both swimmers rain focused for their races tomorrow and Sunday" - said co-head coach Stephanie Taibe
The Cardinals return to the pool Saturday (Jan. 28) for day two of the CUNYAC Championships at Lehman College. Spectators are permitted to attend and will require a ticket for entry. Tickets can be purchased (free of charge) at
cunyathletics.com/tickets. Upon arrival, spectators must provide either proof of vaccination, a negative COVID test within seven days of the meet, or their Cleared4 Access Pass.
