JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's and women's swimming celebrated their 2019-20 Senior Class of five prior to Tuesday's home finale against the Purchase College Panthers (M: 4-8 / W: 7-8) inside York College Natatorium.  Seniors Jamal Chesney (2019-20), Karina Diaz Morales (2017-18, 2019-20), Dorianny Rojas (2017-20), Kaithlyn Taylor (2016-20) and Jamaar Watson (2017-18, 2019-20) were recognized for their dedication to York Athletics with the annual Senior Day Ceremony.  Purchase came away with the sweep, claiming an 88-74 victory in the men's meet and a 95-59 women's decision.

The Cardinal men totaled team-best times in five events, with Anthony Jordan contributing to three of them.  Jordan won the 200-meter freestyle in 2:58.51, and swam the opening leg of the 400-meter freestyle relay to combine with Arafath Hussain, Ti'Juan Boothe and Alex Winter for the victory in 4:33.35.  He also partnered with Jaquan Eleazard, Winter and Hussain to secure second place in the 400-meter medley relay (5:19.15). York also garnered top times by Ti'Juan Boothe in the 100-meter butterfly (3rd, 1:48.72) and in the 400-meter freestyle (3rd, 7:18.12) by Anthony Nazario, Jr.  The Cardinals claimed victory in five events as Winter and Eleazard also grabbed the wall first in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:15.35) and 100-meter backstroke (1:28.10), respectively.  

On the women's side, York captured team-best times in three events as Mauricia Blake, Taylor, Che'Rel Haywood and Shanice Welcome opened the meet by touching the wall first in the 400-meter medley relay with a margin of 29 seconds to clock a winning time of 5:57.37.  Welcome, Blake, Taylor and Haywood teamed to register second place in the 400-meter freestyle relay in 5:22.54.  Welcome produced York's top time in the 100-meter freestyle with a winning performance of 1:16.50.  Rounding out the top performances was Haywood, who won the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:27.61, and Blake's 200-meter IM victory in  3:27.30

The Cardinals (M: 0-7 / W: 0-10) close out the regular season Saturday (Jan. 25) at Brooklyn College at 1 p.m. for a tri-meet against the host Bulldogs (M: 6-1 / W: 3-6) and Bard College Raptors (M: 0-6 / W: 1-5) inside West Quad Center Pool.
