NEW YORK--- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College softball garnered a pair of honors Wednesday as the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) released its Softball end-of-season awards. Freshman Melina Abreu was selected to the All-Conference Team, and senior Madison Plaza landed on the Sportsmanship squad. 

Playing in 22 games, Abreu was a true two-way player, leading the Cardinals and conference with 23 stolen bases, and tied for the team lead with 14 runs. In the circle, Abreu paced York in innings pitched (45.0) and strikeouts (19), while secured the squad's first win of the season with an eight-strikeout masterpiece against Yeshiva University (Apr. 17). With this distinction, the York has produced consecutive All-Conference honorees, as Michelle Mancuso was the representative a season ago (read more).  

Returning for her fourth softball campaign, Plaza played in 20 contests, led the team with a .413 on-base percentage, and stole 13 bags. Those statistics rank 17th and 7th, respectively, among all CUNYAC competitors. With this laurel, the Brooklyn native has now collected Sportsmanship Team selections for three different sports, previously earning two for women's basketball and a 2025 women's volleyball member.
