JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College head softball coach Tracey Marshall announced Wednesday the celebratory signing of Jaivaneslie Mateo-Mendez ahead of the 2027 campaign. 

Mateo-Mendez arrives at York College after playing two varsity seasons for the IN-Tech Academy Panthers. Additionally, she competed on the "Inwood" travel softball squad. 

"I chose York College because it offers a strong education that aligns with my career goals, and it gives me the opportunity to continue playing sports while earning my degree. To me, being a Cardinal means representing York College with pride, showing leadership, working hard in the classroom and in sports, and supporting my teammates and the campus community." - Jaivaneslie Mateo-Mendez

On the diamond, the Bronx native is a versatile player who will bolster the team's infield and outfield talent. Shifting towards academics, Mateo-Mendez intends to major in exercise science.

Mateo-Mendez is the first of York's recruiting class to be announced. In the coming weeks, we will learn more about the program's Cardinal commitments for the new season.
