@yorkcardinals’ Mancuso earns CUNYAC Softball All-Star Status, Collects Sportsmanship Award

York College’s Michelle Mancuso was voted as a 2025 CUNYAC Softball All-Star and Sportsmanship Award honoree

FLUSHING, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College star Michelle Mancuso collected a pair of honors Wednesday as the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) released its Softball end of season awards.

Mancuso, who played all 25 games at catcher, was named to the All-Star squad and was recognized as the CUNYAC Sportsmanship Award recipient. These specific laurels are the program's first since Mary Cuevas garnered an All-Star appearance and the Sportsmanship Award in 2022. Individually, these are Mancuso's first two career CUNYAC seasonal distinctions.

"After losing our catcher before the start of the semester, Michelle volunteered to step into the difficult role. Although she had never played the position, Michelle has worked very hard both at practice and on her own to learn. In a season that hasn't gone our way, Michelle unfortunately had to endure many long innings of work where she is kneeling for long durations. Michelle never complained when things were tough and always encouraged and pushed her team. She is very respectful and leads the team daily by her example. A three-sport athlete, Michelle is a nursing major, works part-time jobs, volunteers at the firehouse, and rescues foster animals."-head coach Tracey Marshall

At the plate, the sophomore was a potent threat in York's lineup, leading the squad with a .288 batting average and hits (15), and ranking second in total bases (18), slugging percentage (.346), and stolen bases (9). Her four-hit, seven-run, eight-RBI weekend against Yeshiva University helped her claim CUNYAC Player of the Week, only the second time a Cardinal has took home that award.
