Jaylene Riley powered York College’s offense with 10 RBI while batting .800, capturing her first career CUNYAC weekly honor

NEW YORK--- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College freshman Jaylene Riley was honored Monday by the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) as the Softball Rookie of the Week for her performance in games played April 13–19. The recognition marks Riley's first career CUNYAC weekly award and the program's fourth Rookie of the Week honor over the past four seasons.

Riley delivered a dominant offensive showing across doubleheaders against Sarah Lawrence College (April 13) and Yeshiva University (April 17), going 8-for-10 at the plate with a 1.500 slugging percentage and a .846 on-base percentage. She also recorded 10 RBI, scored seven runs, and stole four bases.

Against Sarah Lawrence, Riley drove in the team's lone run in Game 1 before erupting in Game 2 with three hits, four RBI, and the Cardinals' first home run of the season.

Riley carried that momentum into the matchup with Yeshiva, tallying four hits (one single, two doubles, and one triple), three RBI, and two runs scored in an 18-8 Game 1 victory. In Game 2, Riley helped power York to a 31-22 win, posting a career-high four runs scored, drawing three walks, swiping four bases, and adding two RBI.

Defensively, the Woodhaven, New York native was equally impressive, registering three putouts and five assists at shortstop without committing an error across the four games.

On the season, Riley is slashing .310/.394/.552 with a team-best 11 RBI, 16 total bases, and four extra-base hits over 13 games. Among CUNYAC leaders, she currently ranks fourth in slugging percentage and eighth in OPS (.946).
