JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) With the emphasis on amplifying the student-athlete experience, York College shines a weekly spotlight on a featured Cardinal to provide a look inside their bio. Tyler Dazey of women's basketball, softball, and volleyball takes center stage in this week's feature.

Arriving at York College from Bethel Christian Academy in Queens, Dazey is a two-year member of the softball team, along with contributing to the women's volleyball and basketball programs this past year. 

Making her softball debut against Lehman College (Mar. 17), the Queens native notched her first career run and hit in the first game of the doubleheader. She tallied her first career RBI in the second leg of a twin bill at Yeshiva University (Mar. 19) and got on the board in the stolen base category against the Lightning later in the campaign. Patrolling the first base position, Dazey recorded 46 putouts in 24 games. In just two matches this current campaign, the senior is 2-for-4 with one triple, three runs, and three stolen bases while recording one putout on the field. 

A part of the volleyball team in the 2023 season, Dazey played in 19 sets as an opposite. She hammered home her first career kill in a three-set victory at Medgar Evers (Sept. 9) and served her ace in a home triumph versus the Cougars (Oct. 10). Standing at 5'7, her size was necessary on the frontcourt for the women's basketball season. A key contributor along with Nadaysia Nivar, Dazey appeared in all 19 games, playing in a tough 27.9 minutes per contest and hauling in 46 boards. The forward grabbed a career-best seven rebounds in a home matchup versus Medgar Evers (Feb. 5) and sank a career-high three free throws in a CUNYAC battle against Hunter (Feb. 10). 

Outside of her athletic versatility, Dazey has made the Dean's List six times, is a 2x CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection, and landed on the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's Basketball Academic All-District Team®.
