Shamonie Miller competed in four seasons as a member of the women's volleyball and softball programs at York College while majoring in health science and professions

JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) With the emphasis on amplifying the student-athlete experience, York College shines a weekly spotlight on a featured Cardinal to provide a look inside their bio. Taking center stage, multi-sport senior Shamonie Miller is highlighted in today's feature.

The Woodside, New York native is a graduate of Information Technology High School. Miller is a health science and professions major while providing four years of leadership as a member of the women's volleyball (2018-19, 22-23) and softball (2018-19, 22-23) programs.

Patrolling the outside hitter position, Miller has played in 71 matches and 219 career sets for the Cardinals, totaling 255.5 points, spiking down 197 kills, serving 54 aces, authoring 57 assists, sweeping up 420 digs. Over the last two campaigns, Miller ranks first on the team in kills (112), aces (28), points, and digs (152). Miller tallied a career-high 13 kills and 53 attacks on home court against Lehman College (10/18/2022). In her final season, Miller had a career-best 10 aces and 21 points against Medgar Evers College (Sept. 9), and followed up with a 31-dig effort (Oct. 10) versus the Cougars.  Miller's success has resulted in her claiming the 2022 York College Women's Volleyball Most Outstanding Award, and a 2023 CUNYAC Women's Volleyball Preseason Player to Watch distinction.

On the softball field, Miller appeared in 69 contests (66 starts), performing at a career-high level in the 2023 campaign. Playing third base, Miller set career highs in hits (10), runs (12), runs batted in (7), walks (13), stolen bases (29), putouts (63), and fielding percentage (87.8%). Her 29 steals not only led the CUNYAC, but Miller smashed the program's single-season record held by Joviette Frederick's 22 thefts in 2011. In 2023, Miller set game career-highs with three RBI against Yeshiva University (March. 29), four steals versus College of Mount Saint Vincent (March. 22), and eight putouts against Baruch College (Apr. 10). For her efforts, Miller garnered the 2023 York College Softball Most Outstanding Award.
