JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) With the emphasis on amplifying the student-athlete experience, York College shines a weekly spotlight on a featured Cardinal to provide a look inside their bio. Taking center stage, cross country, and track & field standout Glenver Stuart is highlighted in today's feature.

A three-year regular with the cross country program, Stuart ran in 14 meets, including three CUNYAC Championship events. A mainstay in the 8k course, he set a personal record time of 34:42.5 at the 2023 year-end meet (Oct. 29), good enough for 27th position. Stuart's previous results in the season finale include a 37th-place finish (41:04.6) in 2021 and a 33rd-place conclusion (37:08.6) in 2022. 

Running behind seniors in 2021 and 2022, Stuart has become a symbol of men's cross country, as he has seven consecutive Top-2 finishes for the Cardinal men, claiming the team's top time in the St. Joseph's Invitational (Oct. 14, 2023) and the 2023 CUNYAC Championship. Stuart's effort garnered his inclusion on the 2022 CUNYAC Cross Country Sportsmanship Team and earned him the 2022 York College Men's Cross Country Coaches Award.

Alongside his consistency in cross country, Stuart has competed in 25 meets across three indoor and two outdoor seasons, including four conference championships. Mastering the 800-meter dash in the 2022 CUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 27), he clocked in at a season-best time of 2:21.36 (5th), generating four points. The Jamaica, New York native beat that time in the 2022 CUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Championships (May. 7), claiming six points and a bronze medal (2:16.06). In the 2023 Indoor year-end event, the junior smashed his record in the 800-meter race, crossing the finish line at 2:08.65 (3rd) and generating six points. Stuart's best performance for the Cardinals came at the 2023 CUNYAC Outdoor Championships (May. 6). Individually, he claimed silver in the 800-meter event, and received four points for a career-high time in the 400-meter dash (54.21). Team-wise, Stuart was part of a 4x100 meter relay and 4x400 meter relay that grabbed 10 points. In the current 2023-24 campaign, the all-star ranks second in the 2024 CUNYAC Indoor Performance List in the 400-meter (55.82) and 800-meter (2:14.06) dash. 

Overall, in five campaigns, Stuart has accumulated 38 points in the CUNYAC Championships, earned four medals, had nine top-10 finishes in the CUNYAC Performance Lists, and was named to the 2023 Outdoor Track & Field All-Star and Sportsmanship Teams. On a department level, he claimed York College Coaches Awards for both the Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field
seasons last year.

Broadening into other sports, Stuart will compete in his second season with the men's volleyball program. In 2023, he played in 16 matches and 48 sets, pacing the team with 208 total attacks and ranking second in points (29) and kills (21). His performances led to him winning the 2023 York College Men's Volleyball Newcomer of the Year Award.
