NEW YORK --- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's and women's swimming opened their CUNYAC slate Tuesday evening with a road match up against the Baruch College Bearcats (M: 3-0; W: 3-0) and Fashion Institute of Technology Tigers inside ARC Aquatic Arena.
The Bearcats topped York with a 55-women's final and a 55-20 women's decision. The Tigers claimed a 23-13 victory in the men's meet and edged York by a count of 26-15 on the women's side.
Julia Wyman made her debut for the Cardinals with a third–place finish in the women's 50-meter freestyle in 33.65. She claimed victory in the 100-meter butterfly (1:27.97) and collected first-place points in the 100-meter breaststroke by touching the wall in 1:36.57.
On the men's side,
Jeremy Sapeg clocked in at 2:32.30 to take third place in the 100-meter backstroke for York's top-individual finish. In 50-meter freestyle, Sapeg paced York in fifth place at (39.57) while
Aanas Aybakar (47.34),
Ahmed Algendy (47.36) and
George Molina (1:02.90) followed.
Algendy, Molina, Sapeg amd Aybakar combined for first-place points in the 200-meter freestyle relay in 3:11.95
