Dessources, who was twice named a Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Divisions II-III Honorable Mention selection, is averaging a career-high 13.9 points on 49.1 percent shooting from the floor (137-of-279) and 58 percent from the free-throw line (58-of-100) to go with 13.3 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 0.9 steals in 24 games. She posted a pair of 20-point, 20-rebound double-doubles and produced career-highs of 28 points (Jan. 28 vs. Hunter College) and four steals (Jan. 2 vs. Mount Holyoke College) during her second season.
The Harlem native leads the CUNYAC in double-doubles (14), rebounds per game, rebounds (318), defensive rebounds per game (8.3), defensive rebounds (199), offensive rebounds per game (5.0), offensive rebounds (119), blocked shots per game and blocked shots (45) while ranking among the league leaders in points per game (13th), points (13th, 333), field goal percentage (3rd), made field goals (6th) and made free-throws (16th).
In the latest NCAA Division III Rankings Summary, Dessources ranks among the nation's leaders in rebounds (4th), rebounds per game (5th), offensive rebounds per game (13th), defensive rebounds per game (14th), double-doubles (12th), blocked shots (60th), blocked shots per game (68th) and field goal percentage (86th).
Jacome is a four-year member of the program who has played in all but two games during her time at York. Majoring in physical education, Jacome registered 62 starts in 97 contests as York's lead guard. "She has been instrumental in the growth of our program," said York head coach
Anastasia Bitis. "Dayana always plays hard and leads by example and shows the utmost respect for her opponents, teammates, coaches, officials and staff."
Dessources, Jacome and the Cardinals (10-14) return to the postseason for the first time since the 2015-16 season Saturday (Feb. 22), when they travel as the No. 5 seed to No. 4 Baruch College (14-10) for a CUNYAC Championship first-round showdown starting at 1 p.m. inside ARC Arena.
