Aiken’s career-high 37-point explosion powers @yorkcardinals Women's Basketball to season-high output at Baruch

York College closes out its road schedule Friday (Feb. 13) with a CUNYAC matchup at Brooklyn College

NEW YORK --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's basketball netted a season-high 66 points Wednesday evening against the Baruch College Bearcats (10-13, 6-6 CUNYAC), but the scoring outburst was not enough, as the hosts claimed a 90-66 victory in a CUNYAC road matchup from ARC Arena. 

How it Happened
  • York started out strong, as baskets from Beautifull Earth, Amaniya Aiken, and Ceanna Adams gave the Cardinals an early 6-2 edge.
  • A pair of field goals from Aiken later kept York in front at 10-9.
  • Baruch, however, closed the opening quarter on a decisive 21-2 run over the final 3:31 to seize a commanding 30-12 advantage.
  • Isabella Kostyal-Larrier fueled the surge with 15 points during the stretch.
  • The Bearcats carried that momentum into the second quarter, opening the frame with a 21-0 run over the first 5:33.
  • York halted the spurt and ended the half on a 7-3 stretch, but Baruch maintained a 54-19 lead at the break.
  • The Cardinals showed resilience coming out of intermission. Spearheaded by Aiken's 14 third-quarter points, along with contributions from Earth (7) and Tyla Hooks (5), the Cardinals erupted for 26 points in the period to trim the deficit to 75-45 entering the fourth.
  • The Cardinals continued to battle in the final stanza, outscoring Baruch by six in the quarter.
  • Aiken poured in 17 of York's 21 fourth-quarter points as York finished the second half strong despite the 90-66 final.
Leading the Cardinals
  • Aiken powered the squad with a career-high 37 points, and hauled in 11 rebounds (seven offensive) and tallied four assists. Her 37-point performance marked the program's highest single-game scoring output since February 7, 2022, when Mac-Dege Dessources poured in 43 points against Baruch.
  • Earth recorded her fourth career double-double with 15 points and a team-best 12 rebounds (six offensive), while also collecting five steals.
  • Chamiya Foy filled the stat sheet with 11 rebounds (seven offensive), four assists, and a career-high nine steals.
  • Ceana Adams added two blocks, and Hooks matched Aiken and Foy with four assists.
For Baruch
  • Kostyal-Larrier paced the Bearcats with 32 points (13-of-24 FG, 3-of-6 3FG, 3-of-3 FT), adding seven rebounds and four steals in 25 minutes of action. 
  • Lola Idir contributed 17 points, knocking down five three-pointers (5-of-12 3FG), while adding six rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
  • D'Andre McRae followed with 14 points (6-of-10 FG) and grabbed nine rebounds (seven offensive). 
  • Lillianna Morales chipped in 11 points (5-of-8 FG) along with six assists and three steals, and Brianna Lopez dished out a game-high 10 assists. 
Inside the Box Score
York shot on 35.8 percent (29-of-81) from the field, 15 percent (3-of-20) from three-point territory, and 33.3 percent (5-of-15) from the free-throw line.  Baruch finished at 41.6 percent (37-of-89) from the floor, 36 percent (9-of-25) from beyond the arc, and 87.5 percent (7-of-8) from the charity stripe. The Bearcats held a 58-53 advantage on the glass, though York turned 25 offensive rebounds into 17 second-chance points. The Cardinals recorded a 4-0 edge in blocks, while Baruch narrowly led in steals (18-17) and controlled the assist margin, 31-16. Baruch also converted 26 York turnovers into 38 points.
