www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's and women's swimming traveled Friday evening to the CSI Sports & Recreation Center where they were outperformed by the host College of Staten Island Dolphins (M: 3-0 / W: 3-0) in the women's meet, 119-54, and 135-40 on the men's side. Â
Leading the charge was
Che'Rel Haywood, who captured both of York's wins on the day, finished first in the 100-yard butterfly by a margin of 14:31 to clock in at 1:07.85. She also was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke by a margin of .41 to touch the wall in 1:19.31. The win improved Haywood to 2-0 on the season in the 100-breaststroke event.
Shanice Welcome finished the 200-yard freestyle in 2:34.45 to place second while the Cardinals earned second place in the 100-yard backstroke by
Dorianny Rojas in 2:07.27. Â
Welcome,
Mauricia Blake, Haywood and
Kaithlyn Taylor swam to second place in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:25.97. Closing out the meet was
Mary Cuevas,
Madonna Adieb,
Zariah Nelson and
Anita Okoye, who placed second (4:00.00) in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Alex Winter led the Cardinal men with second-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.92) and 200-yard freestyle (23.89) races. Anthony Nazario clocked in at 8:38.82 to take second place in the 500-yard freestyle.
The 200-yard medley relay team of

Ti'Juan Boothe,
Arafath Hussain and Nazario placed second in 2:24.57 while
Anthony Jordan,
Jaquan Eleazard,
Jamal Chesney and
Alex Winter combined to finish second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:55.15.Â
The Cardinals (M: 0-2 / W:0-2) travel Friday (Nov. 15) to take on the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (M: 1-0 / W: 0-1) for a 6 p.m. CUNYAC matchup inside West Quad Center Pool in Brooklyn.
