JAMAICA, N.Y.—The York College men's swimming team earned 118-72 win over the College at Old Westbury at home on Friday night, while the women were defeated by Old Westbury, 143-46.
The men had eight first-place finishes, including both relays. The Cardinals opened the meet with a win from the team of
Jaquan Eleazard,
Logan Henry,
Yeudi Taveras and
Raymond Castillo in the 200-meter medley relay with a time of 2:37.11. In the 200-meter free relay, Henry, Taveras,
Juan Rodriguez and
Justice McCain won with a time of 2:04.75.
In individual events, McCain was a winner in the 800-free (11:31.82) and the 400-free (5:25.21).
Henry also earned a victory in the 100-butterfly in 1:33.76, while Castillo had a convincing victory in the 100-freestyle with a time of 1:22.88—which was 16 seconds better than the closest swimmer.
Also earning a win was Rodriguez, who bested the field in the 100-breaststroke in a time of 1:26.53. He was nearly 11 seconds faster than anyone else in the race. In addition,
Joshua Cabrera won the 200-freestyle in 3:14.02.
For the women,
Mariela Rosario won the 100-meter freestyle in a time of 1:23.45.
With the win, the men are now 1-2-1 on the season. The women drop to 0-5.
