JAMAICA, NY – The York College men's and women's cross country team each secured a CUNYAC All-Star award for the 2016 season after stellar performances from the men's Elliott Rogers and the women's Camille Philbert.
 
Rogers earned the All-Star appearance after finishing 12th overall out of 94 competitors at the CUNYAC Championships on October 30th, finishing with a time of 30:54.6 in the 8K.  This performance led the York men to a 6th-place finish.  In addition, Rogers also had some strong regular season performances.  These included a 22nd-place finish (out of 124 competitors) at the Queensborough Invitational, an 11th-place finish (out of 64 competitors) at the College of Staten Island Invitational, and a 30th-place finish (out of 164 competitors) at the York College Invitational.
 
After a slow start to the season, Camille Philbert brought her best when it mattered the most, earning her the All-Star nomination.  Her top performance of the regular season came at the College of Staten Island Invitational, as she helped lead York College to a 4th-place finish, placing 24th out of 66 competitors herself with a time of 30:45 in the 6K.  The sophomore would then lead the York women to a 4th-place finish in the CUNYAC Championships, finishing 17th out of 80 competitors in the 6K with a time of 29:50.5.
 
The overall Performer of the Year was Walter Rodriguez of Hunter College for the men and Kaitlin Hicks of John Jay for the women.  Brooklyn College freshman Muhamid Isa and Lehman College freshman Patricia Novelli received CUNYAC Rookie of the Year honors for the men and women respectively.  Lastly, the men's cross country Coach of the Year went to Robert Russo of the College of Staten Island and Daniel Selsky of Hunter College for the women.
