Shamburger Continues Dominance but Women’s Swimming Falls to Hunter

RESULTS

JAMAICA, N.Y— York College freshman swimmer Sandra Shamburger continued her dominance of the CUNY Athletic Conference, winning two more events on Friday evening but it would not be enough to lift York to victory, as the Cardinals fell to Hunter College, 116-47

Shamburger blew away three other Hunter swimmers in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:44.96, besting her closest competitor by 18 seconds.  She later won the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:27.49, which was five seconds faster than the closest swimmer.  Shamburger has not lost an event dating back to November 19, against Baruch College.  That streak spans over four meets and eight individual events.

However, the Hawks controlled the rest of the meet, winning the other eight events.

York will return to action on January 22 with a meet on the road at Lehman College beginning at 6:00 p.m.
