Tracey Marshall announced Wednesday the celebratory signing of Jaymie Mateo ahead of the 2026 campaign. Mateo arrives at York College after playing two junior varsity seasons and one campaign with the Franklin K. Lane softball team. Mateo also competed on the volleyball squad.
"I chose to enroll at York because it meant I could study what I wanted while playing the sports that I love. I get the opportunity to contribute to the sports programs and make a positive impact. I cannot wait to start my journey as a Cardinal!!"-Jaymie Mateo
At York College, Mateo is projected to play the infield and major in nursing.
"Jaymie comes to us from a great softball program at FK Lane HS where she has
put together quite a resume both athletically and academically. A two-sport athlete who is hardworking with great softball skills, she is a confident and committed athlete who is joining us after three years of high school."-Tracey Marshall
Mateo is the first of York's recruiting class to be announced. In the coming weeks, we will learn more about the program's Cardinal commitments for the upcoming season.
