Sebastian Gomez was acknowledged Monday as the CUNYAC Men's Volleyball Player of the Week Honorable Mention selection for matches played Mar. 3-9. This laurel is the second CUNYAC Men's Volleyball Honorable Mention selection and his third career conference award.
Gomez added another masterpiece against CUNYAC competitor Hunter College (Mar. 4), spiking down 17 kills on 29 attacks and only four errors (.448 percentage). Seizing momentum for the Cardinals in the first set, he totaled eight kills in a 27-25 loss. The rookie also contributed defensively with three digs in the straight-set defeat.
Playing in 42 sets across 11 matches, Gomez has tallied 185 kills on 403 attacks (.275 percentage), 15 aces, 70 digs, and seven total blocks. Among York players, the Flushing native ranks first in points (205.5), kills, total attacks, and attack percentage. He also is second in aces and digs. Among CUNYAC competitors, Gomez paces the conference in points/set (4.89) and kills/set (4.4) and ranks seventh in hitting percentage.
