@yorkcardinals’ Gumbs authors eighth-career MBWA Divisions II/III Women’s Basketball Honorable Mention distinction

York College’s Alicia Gumbs averaged 25.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game

NEW YORK --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College guard cia Gumbs was recognized Tuesday by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) as a Women's Basketball Divisions II/III Honorable Mention selection for games played January 20-26. This laurel is her eighth-career MBWA weekly honor and the third of this campaign.  

The senior continued her strong offensive season, averaging 25.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.0 steals in a 0-2 week for York. Facing Baruch College (Jan. 22) on the road, Gumbs scored a season-best 28 points to go along with seven rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. In a home affair versus Hunter College (Jan. 24), the shifty guard netted a team-best 22 points and added four six rebounds and four assists. Over 13 games, the Queens native is averaging 21.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.4 steals, and 2.5 assists per game. The 1x CUNYAC All-Star has scored over 57% of the team's points, and she paces the squad in the points, steals, and assists categories. 

On a conference level, Gumbs ranks highly in points per game (4th), steals per game (4th), minutes (39.3, 2nd) per game, and free throws made (86, T-2nd). Among all Division III players, Gumbs places fourth in minutes, 15th in points, and is tied for 17th in steals per game.
