FLUSHING, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College's David Heyliger, Jr. was honored Monday as the CUNYAC Men's Volleyball Player of the Week selection for games played Apr. 1-7. Heyliger, Jr. wrapped up his career with his second CUNYAC Player of the Week and his sixth conference distinction of his career. 

Driving the Cardinals to their third win of the campaign, the outside hitter totaled a team-leading 63.5 points, 53 kills, 127 attacks, a .227 attack percentage, seven aces, and five total blocks last week. Triumphing over Sarah Lawrence College in four sets (Apr. 4), Heyliger, Jr. produced career-highs in kills (31), total attacks (78), and points (38) to go along with 10 digs. Going Superman mode, he hammered down six kills in the final seven points of the fourth set for the victory. In the first leg of a doubleheader at Valley Forge (Apr. 6), Heyliger, Jr. had a team-best eight kills and two service aces, and in the second contest, he generated nine kills in a four-set defeat. 

Over 21 matches this campaign, the U.S. Virgin Islands native leads the team in points (308), kills (263), total attacks (722), hitting percentage (.118), aces (25), and total blocks (125), and ranks second with 142 digs. Among CUNYAC competitors, he tops the conference in attacks per set (10.46), points per set (4.46), and kills per set (3.81). Per the NCAA Division III hierarchy, Heyliger, Jr. ranks 4th, 22nd, and 22nd in those metrics respectively.
