FLUSHING, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball received a year-end award Wednesday, as the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) announced sophomore Stanley Sanchez as one of eight members recognized on the 2024 Sportsmanship Team. The Sportsmanship Team nod is Sanchez's first, while the three-time CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection also boasts a 2022 CUNYAC Men's Soccer All-Star laurel.

"Stanley has shown exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. He carries himself in a manner that supports his goals while at the same time recognizing the efforts of others." - said York College head men's volleyball coach Anthony Reyes  

Making the full-time switch to setter this season, the East Elmhurst native totaled a team-high 347 assists across 21 contests. Setting up his teammates with great technique, Sanchez reached the 10-assist mark in 13 matches and the 20-assist plateau in eight matches. In a four-set triumph versus Sarah Lawrence College, Sanchez distributed a career-best 43 assists on the night. Alongside his setting prowess, Sanchez scooped up a solid 86 digs, served up 22 aces, and accumulated 36.5 points. 

Tabbed as a CUNYAC Preseason Men's Volleyball Player To Watch, Sanchez ranked sixth in the CUNYAC in assists per set (5.34) and 96th amongst Division III players.
