David Heyliger, Jr. was recognized Monday as the CUNYAC Men's Volleyball Player of the Week Honorable Mention Selection for games played Mar. 25-31. This is the fifth career men's volleyball CUNYAC weekly honor for Heyliger, Jr. and the second of the season.
Building upon his strong season, Heyliger, Jr. paced the squad with 33 kills, 78 total attacks, and a .231 swing percentage to go along with 19 digs and five total blocks last week. In a tough three-set challenge at Lehman College (Mar. 26), Heyliger, Jr. paced the Cardinals with 14 kills (.171 rate), totaled three blocks, and scooped up 11 digs. Hanging tough with the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (Mar. 28), the outside hitter produced 19 kills on an efficient .297 attack percentage. Defensively, he contributed eight digs and two block assists.
Over 18 matches this campaign, the U.S. Virgin Islands native leads the team in points (230.5), kills (197), total attacks (567), hitting percentage (.088), and digs (122). In the NCAA Division III hierarchy, Heyliger, Jr. ranks highly in attacks per set (10.31, 7th), kills per set (3.58, 28th), and points per set (4.19, 30th).
