Lissenny Florentino was named a 2024 CUNYAC Softball Preseason Player to Watch Thursday as league officials released the six-member squad.
Patrolling the shortstop and second base positions, Florentino played in 23 games in her first season for the program. Offensively, she scored a career-high three runs in the second leg of a double-header at Yeshiva University (Mar. 19) and accumulated four RBI in a back-and-forth 16-15 home victory versus the Maccabees (Mar. 29). Among her teammates, the Brooklyn native placed top-five in RBI (3rd), slugging percentage (3rd) hits (4th), and runs scored (5th).
Voted on by the league coaches, York was selected sixth in the CUNYAC Preseason Poll.

John Jay College topped the voting with 24 points and four first-place votes, and Hunter College and Baruch College also mustered one first-place selection. The Cardinals received five total points. York's 10-game conference slate begins at home versus Lehman College on April 5.
The 2024 CUNYAC Championship will happen on May 9 (semifinals) and May 10 (finals), with the league champion receiving an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.

Florentino and the Cardinals begin their campaign Saturday (Mar. 9) with a non-conference home double-header against the Wells College Express starting at 12 p.m. from Padavan Preller Fields.
