Alicia Gumbs was selected Friday as a 2023-24 CUNYAC Women's Basketball Preseason Player to Watch as league officials released the eight-member squad.
Alicia Gumbs elevated her game in 2022-23, averaging career highs of 12.0 points, 4.1 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.3 blocks, while connecting on 40 percent (110-of-275) from the field, 24.4 percent (13-of-53) from 3-point territory and 67.9 percent (55-of-81) from the free-throw line. Gumbs also grabbed 3.9 rebounds in 35.9 minutes per contest. She ranked highly among CUNYAC competitors in points per game (11th), field goal percentage (10th), assists per game (T-4th), steals per game (17th), blocks per game (T-18th), and minutes per game (6th). Gumbs' contributions helped York advance to CUNYAC Championship play for the third consecutive season.
Voted on by the league coaches, York was picked to finish seventh in the CUNYAC Preseason Poll.

Brooklyn College finished first in the poll with 47 points, along with six first-place votes, while the Cardinals received 13 total points. York's 14-game conference slate begins against Lehman College on December 1.
The 2023-24 CUNYAC Championship will take place February 17 (first-round), February 20 (semifinals), and February 23 (finals), with the league champion receiving an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.
The Cardinals (0-0) tip off their campaign Wednesday (Nov. 15) in a non-conference road matchup against the Ramapo College Roadrunners (0-0) at 5:30 p.m. inside the Bradley Center.
