NEW YORK --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's and women's track & field opened their season Friday at the Rutgers University Holiday Classic at the New Balance he Armory's New Balance Track & Field Center. The runners competed against Division I athletes from universities that included Rutgers, Columbia, Stony Brook, and Iona. 

On the men's side, Bryan Ortiz completed the 300-meter dash with a time of 44.61 (28th place). Participating in the 600-meter run, Emmanuel Haynes and Djelili Okoro crossed the finish line after each other. In a field of 14 runners, Haynes' 1:31.77 time placed him in 12th, and Okoro's 1:37.09 run was good for 13th position. In the 1,000-meter competition, Glenver Stuart clocked in at 2:58.42 (12th place).

For the women, Katryna Francois scored a time of 49.23 in the 300-meter event. In the 60-meter race, freshman A'kynah Flack crossed the finish line at 10.95.

The Cardinals are scheduled to return to competition Friday (Dec. 9) at 1 p.m., where they participate in the Seahawk Shootout at the Ocean Breeze Park Athletic Complex.
