www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's and women's outdoor track & field opened their 2026 season at The Big Hurt, hosted by St. John's University at DaSilva Memorial Field, posting four top-10 finishes.
Men's Performance Breakdown
- Michael Zhang led the way with the top finish of the day, crossing the 5,000-meter event in a personal record 19:13.51 for second place.
- In the 100-meter dash, debutant Sadeeq Nathanel paced the squad in 13th (12.60), followed by Tahkwai Wilson-Hill (12.66, 15th) and Shirra Jenkins (13.72, 25th).
- Wilson-Hill also participated in the 200-meter race, producing his second top-15 finish (26.04, 13th) of the day.
- Jahsani Peters had his first showing for York as well, running the 200 meters in 28.90 (20th).
- In the field events, Brandon Smith got off the mark in the shot put with a throw of 8.76 meters (6th), and Jenkins rounded out his day with a 4.09-meter result in the long jump.Â
Women's Performance Breakdown
- Four Cardinals competed in the 100-meter sprint, with Raylene Browne Alexander turning in the top time (17.39, 23rd). Bianca Burgin (17.40, 24th), Timarawa Blackman (18.72, 27th), and Jordeena Jervis (19.63, 28th) each produced similar results.
- Keanna Clouden ran in two individual events, posting a 28th-place finish (33.35) in the 200-meter race and running the 400 meters in 1:27.76 (23rd).
- Nichole Lewis crossed the finish line in the 200 meters at 38.89 (32nd).
- Culminating the individual side, Browne Alexander had a shot put toss of 6.09 meters, good enough for 10th.Â
- In the 4x100-meter relay, the quartet of Clouden, Browne Alexander, Blackman, and Burgin posted a 6th-place performance (1:08.11).

The Cardinals return to the track Saturday (Apr. 4) with Stockton University's Osprey Open starting at 10 a.m. from G. Larry James Stadium in Galloway, New Jersey.
