Chhab to lead @yorkcardinals Track & Field as acting head coach

Brahim Chhab named acting head coach of York College men’s and women’s track & field programs following the resignation of Eamon Sheerin

JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) Brahim Chhab was named acting head coach of York College's men's and women's track & field programs for the 2026 outdoor season, announced Tuesday by director of athletics Carl Christian. Chhab steps into the role following the resignation of Eamon Sheerin, who led the programs during the 2025 cross country and 2025–26 indoor track & field seasons.

"We thank Coach Sheerin for his time and dedication to York and wish him all the best in his future endeavors." - expressed Carl Christian.

Chhab brings continuity and leadership to both squads as they prepare for the outdoor campaign.

With a state-of-the-art facility and a motivated group of student-athletes, there is a strong foundation for both academic and athletic achievement. Chhab, who has also serves as the Cardinals' head men's soccer coach since the 2023 season, first arrived at York in 2022 as an assistant coach. During his time with the program, Chhab has developed three All-CUNYAC selections on the pitch, coached back-to-back CUNYAC Sportsmanship Award winners, and mentored a CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Honorable Mention recipient.

A former international competitor, Chhab represented the Moroccan national track & field team in the 400-meter event from 1984 to 1988. His background in track & field is deeply rooted in Morocco's golden era of athletics, where he trained and competed alongside world-class elite athletes, Olympians, and world record holders. During this time, Chhab was coached by Dr. Aziz Daouda, widely regarded as one of the world's leading track & field coaches and the Confederation of African Athletics' technical director for coaching and development.

Chhab earned a degree in superior studies of sports science at UREPS Regional University of Sports and Physical Education in France. He also earned a master's degree in sports science and human movement from Bellevue Institute of Superior Studies of Sports Performance in Morocco. He researched in training elite athletes in strength and speed performance under the direction of by Dr. Harmatallah Sbai Moulay Hassan, former director of the Qatar National Olympic soccer team.

Chhab currently resides in Glen Cove, New York.
