@yorkcardinals finish No. 20 in NCAA Division III Team Works Service Challenge

York College concluded the 2019-20 academic year ranked among the top programs for community service in the NCAA Team Works Challenge

JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) The 2019-20 academic year marked the sixth year of the NCAA Team Works Helper Helper Community Service Competition as the Cardinals finished No. 20 in the NCAA Division III standings.

NCAA Team Works, which coordinates community service efforts at the NCAA championships, and Helper Helper, partnered to create a challenge to recognize student-athletes who give back to their communities. The competition runs each Fall (Sept. – Nov.) and winners are determined by the number of participating student-athletes and service hours completed. Because Helper Helper's digital platform tracks the school participation data throughout the competition, updates participants of their progress.

During the competition, student-athletes combined to log 255,603 hours of community service on Helper Helper representing an economic impact of $6.5M. Continuing to grow this year's total shows a 31% increase in hours served and a total of 10,000 volunteer opportunities with local organizations.

The 2019-20 academic year report saw student-athletes across the country set out to give back to the communities that support them.  Institutions hosted a number of volunteer events including hospital visits, youth clinics, garbage pick-ups, mentoring, house builds and more.  All in all, the student-athletes spent more than 467,000 hours impacting their communities.

The 2019-20 report highlights the top teams and top schools (read more) as Helper Helper is honored to work with these institutions and help encourage student-athletes to make a lasting impact.
