@yorkcardinals Intramurals hosts inaugural Turkey Trot Non-Perishable Food Drive


JAMAICA, N.Y. --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College Intramurals hosted their inaugural Turkey Trot Run/Walk Canned Food Drive on Thursday afternoon from a sunny Health & Physical Education Complex Outdoor Field.

Over 40 students, faculty and staff from the campus community participated in the Turkey Trot while supporting the efforts of the York College Food Pantry in conjunction with Governor Andrew M. Cuomo's "No Student Goes Hungry" program.  In total, over 100 pounds of non-perishable food items were collected by the generosity of the campus community.  The non-perishable food items are still being accepted for the drive through November 26 with a drop off location in room 110 of the Health & Physical Education Complex.  Also contributing the the campus event were members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), who volunteered as course marshals for the 1.25-mile race.  

Alexander Winter of the men's swimming team was the top finisher, and was awarded a turkey for completed the course first.  Taylor Bellmon of the women's soccer team then recorded the top female finish while professor Vincent Jones was the first faculty member to cross the finish line.
