www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's swimming returned to action Friday evening for a CUNYAC road matchup inside Hunter College North Pool in Manhattan, dropping a 62-20 decision to the Hunter College Hawks (7-2, 4-0 CUNYAC).
Leading the charge for York was
Che'Rel Haywood, who touched the wall first in the 50-yard freestyle race in 27.90.
Mary Cuevas,
Madonna Adieb,
Nayelly Rojas and
Karina Diaz Morales teamed up to garner first-place points in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 3:36.32.
Competing in their first CUNYAC meet since November 15, the Cardinals set team-best times in three events, with Haywood and
Mauricia Blake each contributing to a pair of 2019-20 records. Haywood and Blake combined with
Shanice Welcome and
Kaithlyn Taylor to finish second in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:19.78. Haywood also touched the wall in 6:32.78 to capture second place in the 500-yard freestyle event while Blake swam to a third-place showing in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:30.79.
The Cardinals (M: 0-5, 0-2 CUNYAC / W: 0-7, 0-3 CUNYAC) return home Tuesday (Jan. 14) to close out their CUNYAC schedule against the John Jay College Bloodhounds (W: 1-2, 0-2 CUNYAC) and Lehman College Lightning (M: 2-4, 0-1 CUNYAC / W: 3-4, 0-2 CUNYAC) starting at 6 p.m. inside York College Natatorium.
