BRONX, N.Y.—The York College men's and women's swimming team held its senior night on Tuesday and unfortunately they could not come up with a victory. The men lost to Lehman, 96-79, and the women were defeated, 91-66.
On the men's side,
Juan Rodriguez earned a second-place finish in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:28.53 and senior
Raymond Castillo was second in the 100-meter freestyle in 1:15.92. In addition, the 200-meter relay team of Rodriguez, Castillo,
Justice McCain and
Yeudi Taveras placed second overall (2:01.74).
For the women,
Shantusha Kanhai, was second in the 50-meter freestyle (32.90) and third in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:35.01).
The five seniors honored were Kanhai, Castillo, McCain,
Gregory Klimaytis and
Joshua Cabrera. Pictures of the event will be available later this week.
York will now be idle until January 25, when they visit the College of Staten Island at 6 p.m. in its regular-season finale.
