BOX SCORE 1 |
BOX SCORE 2 The York College softball team fell 12-4 and 8-0 to Yeshiva University in a doubleheader under the lights at Fordham University on Thursday night.
In the first game, York got off to a hot start, scoring two runs in the top of the first.
Alyssa King got on base, stole second, and advanced to third on a passed ball before scoring on an RBI groundout by
Priscilla Lallave.
Chyla Guevara then got on base and came around to score on singles by
Nicole Ovelheira,
Nathy Reyes, and
Conetia Anderson. However, Yeshiva came back, scoring a run in the first, five in the second, one in the third, and five in the fourth to take a 12-2 lead. The Cardinals came close to extending the game another inning by scoring two runs in the fifth to get it to within eight, but that was as close as they got.
Yeshiva dominated the second game from start to finish. Rebecca Kleiner and Rachel Mirsky each had two runs batted in for the Maccabees. Mirsky was also stellar on the mound for Yeshiva, only allowing one hit to Lallave in the first inning.
York returns to action on Saturday, April 23, with a road doubleheader at The College of Staten Island at 12 p.m.
