Brooklyn Tops York in Swimming

JAMAICA, N.Y.—The York College men's and women's swimming teams each fell to CUNYAC rival Brooklyn College at home on Monday night. The men fell 141-34, while the women were defeated 132-42.
 
In the loss, York was led by Romea Noel, who touched the wall first in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 13:59.72.  Shantusha Kanhai also added a second-place finish in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:51.02.
 
For the men, Justice McCain placed second in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 11:55.00, which was a 12-second improvement from his previous race. 
 
The losses drop the men's record to 1-3, 0-2 CUNYAC, while the women are 0-4, 0-2 CUNYAC.  The Brooklyn men are now 1-1 overall and 1-1 CUNYAC, while the women are 2-1 overall and 2-1 CUNYAC.
 
The Cardinals now have a long layoff and won't return to action until January.  The women return with a home meet on January 9 vs. John Jay, while the men are idle until January 17 at Lehman College.
