BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- The York College softball team is now mathematically eliminated from CUNY Athletic Conference playoff contention after a pair of losses to the College of Staten Island yesterday by scores of 13-1 and 12-0 respectively.

Both Game's 1 and 2 saw the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island (CSI) get off to quick starts in the first inning of play- outscoring York 8-0 in the first inning of game number 1; then 4-0 in the opening inning of play in game 2. Shaky defense that plagued York all season continued as the Cardinals committed eight errors in the two combined games.

Game 1 saw starting pitcher Priscilla Lallave not even escape the first inning before giving up seven hits and six earned runs to a CSI offense that has been rampaging through the conference throughout the season. Brittany Smith and Stefanie Solari combined for seven runs batted in out of the two and three slots in the Dolphin's batting order- while Maxine Jasko and Victoria Prociopo contributed a pair of RBIs themselves. Michelle Deleon pitched the final 3 1/3 innings for York- surrendering five runs of her own, while walking two.

Geniva Faulk drove in the Cardinal's lone run of the day during the top of the fourth inning with her RBI double scoring Karen Werner- who had two of the Cardinal's four hits for the game.

The second game saw Prociopo move from the outfield to the pitching rubber and she put on a clinic. Her five shutout innings featured only three hits allowed to go along with five strikeouts. The Cardinals also committed three errors on the game, giving them eight on the afternoon.

For CSI, sophomore Danielle Locke recorded two hits, a run batted in and a steal. York's Thessaly Belizario contributed a hit and stolen base of her own in the losing effort for the Cardinals.?

The Cardinal's (5-21, 1-11 CUNYAC) will play their final two games of the regular season on Friday when they take to the road against the College of New Rochelle- a team they beat by a score of 20-3 earlier this season. Action is set to kick off at 5 pm. CSI finishes the season undefeated in conference play, and will continue their season against Montclair State today at 3:30pm, with another game to follow at 5:30.
