BRONXVILLE, N.Y.— The York College men's volleyball team extended its winning streak to seven matches on Saturday morning, after taking their talents to the road and defeating Sarah Lawrence College in a non-conference matchup by the score of 3-0 (25-7, 25-10, 25-11).
The Cardinals improved their record to 12-4 after sweeping the winless Sarah Lawrence Gryphons. It was also notable that they did so without their star setter
Avinash Thomas, who leads the Cardinals and is second in the CUNYAC with 8.27 assists per set. Fellow teammate
Jaquan DeJesus was able to step up in his absence, notching 16 assists of his own with three aces.
Leszek Stankiewicz was nearly perfect for the Cardinals, finishing with eight kills in nine attempts (.889).
Bryan Williams also had a strong outing for the Cardinals, chipping in nine assists of his own while adding five digs and six kills (.417). He ranks 10th in CUNYAC in kills with 2.43 per set.
Randy Adams contributed seven kills with a hitting percentage of .667, while adding five digs and a match-high four service aces. He leads the team and ranks 9th in the CUNYAC with 2.52 kills per set, just slightly above teammate Williams' average.
Sarah Lawrence drops to 0-15 on the season with the loss. They were led by Cameron Martinez (five kills), Brent Terry (five assists) and Amit Sankaran (four digs).
York will put their win streak on the line on Monday, March 3
rd at 7:30pm in a road meeting with Baruch College. They will be looking to avenge their 3-1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-11, 25-22) loss to the Bearcats back on February 12th in Jamaica.
