JAMAICA, N.Y.— The York College men's volleyball team needed just 58 minutes to defeat St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) on Wednesday night, winning by a score of 3-0 (25-5, 25-9, 25-13).
St. Joseph's had no answer for the Cardinals on the night, as York hit .519 as a team and served up 13 aces. York had 37 kills in just 54 attempts, while holding the Bears to a hitting percentage of -.146.
Bryan Williams led the way for the Cardinals, with five kills and a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage. He also served up seven aces on the night, including four in during a stretch in the final set.
Sebastien Francois and
Randy Adams each recorded a match-high seven kills and
Leszek Stankiewicz added six kills with a hitting percentage of .750. Setter
Avinash Thomas had 16 assists, three kills and three blocks. In addition,
Edner Geffrard had four kills and hit .800.
Coming off the bench,
Jaquan DeJesus has 16 assists and
Knudson Andre added five kills on just six attempts.
York improves to 3-2 with the win, while St. Joseph's drops to 1-1. The Cardinals will open up conference play on Saturday when they travel to Lehman for a CUNYAC multi-match. York faces Brooklyn College at 9 a.m. and Lehman at 1 p.m.
