York Men’s Volleyball Wins Fourth Straight, Serves up 35 Aces in Win at Medgar Evers

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The York College men's volleyball team picked up its fourth straight win and improved to 11-4 on the season, with a dominant performance against conference-foe Medgar Evers College on Tuesday evening. The Cardinals won by a score of 3-0 (25-1, 25-11, 25-3). York didn't work up much of a sweat in the match, as they recorded an incredible 35 service aces in the contest.
Jon Peter Sardea and
Kevin Dong each accounted for 14 of those aces and
Leszek Stankiewicz added three.
Jhonnattan Fernandez led all players with eight kills on the evening.
Emmanuel Geffrard, the reigning CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, added six kills with a .857 hitting percentage.
Maximo Bonilla was a perfect 5-for-5 in hitting attempts and Stankiewicz also added four kills.
Medgar Evers, who was playing in its first match of the season, did not help out its cause, as they hit -.349 on the night and managed just two kills.
York will look to extend its win streak to six, when they visit Lehman College for a quad match. The Cardinals will take on Brooklyn College at 6:30 p.m. and Lehman College at 8:30 p.m. These matches are rescheduled from a February 9 match that was postponed due to snow.
