JAMAICA, N.Y. – The York College men's volleyball team picked up its third and fourth straight wins of the season on Friday night, defeating Keuka College 3-0 (25-18, 29-27, 28-26) in a hard-fought match before cruising to a 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-15) victory over Cooper Union.

Keuka Recap
Keuka College was playing in its first-ever NCAA game but they certainly didn't play like it, as they gave the Cardinals everything they had.  York won the first set with little trouble but had to scratch and claw to pull out the second and third sets.

In the second set, the two teams went back and forth throughout. York had three set points at 24-23, 25-24 and 26-25 but Keuka fought them off each time and then got a set point of its own, after a kill by Ryan Kelly made it 27-26.  This time York fought off the set point thanks to a Francis Jimenez kill.  A kill by York sophomore setter Jon Peter Sardea followed and then York was finally able to pull of the set, thanks to a hitting error by the Storm.

In the third set, Keuka looked like it was poised to force a fourth set after taking a 24-22 advantage following a kill by Christopher Mooring.  But a Keuka hitting error and a kill by York's Avinash Thomas evened up the score.  The score was tied again at 26-26 when a Keuka hitting error set up match point for the Cardinals. York then finished off the thrilling match with a kill by sophomore Kevin Mora

York was led by Thomas, who finished with a team-high 11 kills.  Freshman Emmanuel Geffrard continued his strong start to the season, slamming nine kills and adding seven digs and junior Maximo Bonilla had six kills and hit .235.  Sardea registered 29 assists at the setter position and libero Terrence Sutton led the Cardinals with ten digs.

Keuka was led by Connor Hinman, who led all players with 12 kills to go long with seven digs.  Manny Fernandez had a match-high 11 digs and Tom Campbell and Mooring each had six kills.  Keuka drops to 0-1.
