Men’s Volleyball to Host CCNY in CUNYAC Quarterfinals on April 10
JAMAICA, N.Y.— The seeding for the 2012 CUNY Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Championship has been announced and York College has earned the #3 seed and will host the #6 seed, the City College of New York on Tuesday, April 10 in the York College Gymnasium at 3:00 p.m.
The Cardinals finished the 2012 season with a mark of 18-14 overall and 10-4 in CUNYAC play. CCNY finished 8-21 overall and 4-9 in CUNYAC play. York got the best of CCNY this season, winning both match-ups. They earned a straight-set victory at home on February 16 and squeaked out a five-set win over the Beavers on the road on March 3.
These two teams have met in the quarterfinal round in each of the last three seasons, with York winning every time. The Cardinals will hope to extend that streak to four on Tuesday.
In the other quarterfinal matchups, Hunter College (14-0), who earned the top seed, will host #8 Medgar Evers College (0-14). #2 Baruch College (12-2) will entertain #7 John Jay College (2-12) and #4 Lehman College (8-6) will host #5 Brooklyn College (5-9).
Should York advance, they will play in the semifinals on Thursday at Hunter College and will take on the Baruch/ John Jay winner at 4:00 p.m. The other semifinal will take place at 6 p.m. and the two winners will play later that night in the championship game at 8:00 p.m.
