Softball Closes 2012 Season With Two Losses to St. Joseph’s

BELLEROSE, N.Y— The York College softball team closed the 2012 season quietly on Monday afternoon, losing two games to St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) by scores of 11-0 and 10-0 respectively.
The St. Joseph's pitchers kept the York bats in check all day long. In game one, St. Joseph's pitcher Alyson Chiarmonte tossed a five-inning no-hitter, allowing just one runner to reach on an error. In game two, York didn't fare much better, as they managed just two hits—both of which came in the final inning against St. Joseph's hurler Lisa Scheer. Those two hits came off the bats of

Chairamonte was also big at the plate in game one, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Caityln Kakavas went 5-for-5 in the two games and collected six RBIs to lead the Lady Bears at the plate. They improved to 23-10 on the year.
York closes the 2012 season with a record of 6-22.
