Softball Plates 13 Runs in Win over New Rochelle
BOX SCORE
NEW ROCHELLE, NY—
Joviette Frederick went 2-for-3 with four runs and three RBIs and
Danielle Dunn went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run to lead the York College softball team to a 13-4 rout of the College of New Rochelle on Thursday afternoon.
York scratched across two runs in the top of the first, scoring one run on a fielder's choice and another on a wild pitch. They would add four more runs in the top of the second. Three walks, and consecutive hits by Frederick and Dunn helped break open the inning. After a scoreless third, York put up five more runs in the fourth inning, thanks in part to
Carmela Napolitano, who had a two-RBI double in the inning. CNR also had five errors in the frame, which helped set up the big inning.
York pitcher Michelle DeLeon settled down after a rough first inning to earn her second victory of the season. She allowed three hits and struck out six in five innings of work.
With the win, York improves to 6-19 on the season. They will host Briarcliffe College on Tuesday, April 24 at 3:30 p.m. at Cunningham Park.
