Softball Eliminated from Playoff Contention with Pair of Losses to Brooklyn

BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2
BROOKLYN, NY— The York College softball team dropped two games to conference-rival Brooklyn College by scores of 8-0 and 11-3 respectively on Tuesday afternoon.  The two losses knock York out CUNY Athletic Conference playoff contention.

The Cardinals were hoping to sneak into the sixth and final spot in the upcoming CUNYAC championships.  But the two losses means John Jay College is guaranteed the final playoff spot.  York is 5-19 overall and finishes the conference portion of its schedule with a record of 1-11.

The Cardinals once again struggled to put runs on the board, as they managed just three hits in each game.  Brooklyn, meanwhile, plated at least one run in all but one inning on the day.

Brooklyn (15-13, 6-6 CUNYAC) was led by Stephanie Caravello who was 1-for-2 with three RBIs in game one and 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs in the nightcap.   Brooklyn pitcher Marie Oneto picked up the win both contests, striking out a combined 14 batters in the two games.

York will look to rebound on Thursday, when they visit the College of New Rochelle at 5:00 p.m. for a single game.
