York Uses Team Effort to Top New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y—Every player on the York College women's basketball team got on the scoresheet as the Cardinals used a total team effort to bounce New Rochelle by a score of 70-46 on Monday night.
Shadae Rice led York, nearly recording a triple-double, scoring 17 points, dishing out 12 assists and grabbing seven rebounds. She also swatted two shots and added four steals.
Joanna Josama also was close to a triple-double, scoring 15 points, grabbing ten rebounds and dishing out seven assists.
Danielle Dunn scored a season-high 11 points to go along with seven rebounds and
Ishonda McFarland chipped in six points and ten boards.
The game was tight throughout most of the first half with five ties and four lead changes. York closed the half strong though and took an eight-point advantage (32-24) into the locker room.
York then pulled away early in the second half. Josama opened the second-half scoring with a three-pointer and then the Cardinals followed with made buckets on their next three possessions to go up by 17 points (41-24) with 17:40 to play in the game.
New Rochelle briefly closed to within ten points a few minutes later but could not cut further into the deficit. York extended its lead back to a more comfortable margin and led by as much as 25 points the rest of the way.
New Rochelle was led by Alyssa Pechin, who had 24 points and six boards and by Holly Cammarota, who netted 14 points and five boards.
The Blue Angels drop to 5-12 with the loss, while York improves to 2-17. The Cardinals will host Medgar Evers College on Friday at 6:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on tape delay on Queens Public Television.
